This paper reports 6 cases who had band-like zones of hypalgesia to be occurred after the presence of PSC. First of all, the PSC was induced out with acupuncture then the pain sensation of the body surface by the course of the PSC was tested with a filiform needle and the result was marked. The marks showed a figure of a band which corresponded to the PSC. The band was termed "hypalgesic bandlike zone". The increase of the pain threshold over those zones was certified by means of potassium iontophoresis.
The characteristics of the band-like zone are:
1. It is identical in space and time with PSC and the hypalgesia zone is relatively stable although there are difference in width, degree of increase of pain threshold and maintenance time.
2. The differences mentioned above may be present upon different individuals, different channels of a same case, different portions of the same channel and even different depths of a same point.
3. The hypalgesic zones with a relative stability could be blocked mechanically and might cross or communicate each other by means of diffusion.
The mechanism of both phenomena of the PSC and the hypalgesic zone may be a kind of functional activity of the central nervous system.
