In making an analysis of the influence of the pulmonary resection under acupuncture anaesthesia on the changes of the respiratory resistance, the respiratory resistance meter was applied.
No distinct influence of the acupuncture anaesthesia on the respiratory changes was found in our group. There is no definite difference between the changes of the respiratory resistance before and after the thoracotomy (P>0.05) for the male patient. Among the 23 male patients 3 cases belong to grade I, 17, grarde II, and 3, grade III. But among the 18 female patients (5 cases belong to grade I, 13, grade II), there is a remarkable increase in the respiratory resistance after thoracotomy: grade I, 4.6% increase and grade II, 9.7% (both on the average P<0.05).
