The Specificity Of Points In The Rotation Of Fetus -- A Report Of 206 Cases

Dept. Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Shanxi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture and moxibustion were used in 260 cases of abnormal presentation in which other conventional methods failed. 12 points along 4 Channels were selected. Each point was used for one group of 20 patients. In control group only knee-chest position and external version were perfomed. The points were stimulated with moxibustion for 20 minutes every day. If there was no effect after 4 treatments, moxibustion was combined with acupuncture. If still no effect resulted electro-acupuncture was applied. The treatment was considered to be a failure if all above-mentioned method failed. The overall success rate was 58.3%. There was no significant difference between the twelve points used, but the difference between the four channels was statistically significant--Spleen Channel (68.7%), Lung Channel (66.7%), Urinary Bladder Channel (55%), Small Intestine Channel, (43.3%) control group (15%).

It was found that during acupuncture and moxibustion the abdominal muscle became relaxed and the motion of fetus was active.
