Twinkling Electromyogram During The Presence Of Propagated Sensation Along Channels - A Case Report

A female patient with moderate propagated sensation along channels (PSC) was examined in June 1975. When the needle was inserted into the left Diwuhui of the Gall Bladder Channel, the PSC developed and ascended upward gradually. Muscular electric activity appeared immediately after insertion of the needle at the point just acupunctured and continued for 3 min. and 18 sec. So was the development of the muscular electric activity after needling the left Xuanzhong and it maintained for 6 min. and 52 sec. The electric activity over left Yanglingquan was occurred 5 min. 15 sec. after needling and continued for 7 min. 32 sec. The time of arrival of PSC and the time of the development of muscular electrical activity were identical basically.


PSC is one kind of the well known phenomena of channels and large amount of works had been done. For further research of its characteristics some of objective index is necessary. According to this case report electromyogram may be useful for this purpose.
