Since 1974, 64 cases with angina pectoris were teated with acupuncture. 1. Method The patient was diagnosed according to the diagnostic standard specified at the National Conference of Screening of Hypertension and Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease held in 1974, and the therapeutic effect was reviewed according to the standards settled at that meeting.
The acupuncture points were as follows:
Main points: Xinshu and Jueyinshu, Neiguan and Xinpin (3cm below shaohai), Shanzhong and Jujue may be applied alternately, and Sanyinjiao.
According to the different symptoms of the patients the following supplementary points may be selected: Taixi, Guanguan, Dazhai, Qihai, Zusanli, Fenglong, Xuehai, Geshu etc.
Puncturing the points caused needling sensation including soreness, numbness, distention and radiation. After puncturing the Shu points on the back, the handle of the needle was scraped for 1-2 minutes. The needles were not retained except for a few points where they were retained for 20 minutes.
The patient was treated once daily or every other day, each course consisted of 10 treatments. Each patient received 2-3 courses of treatment seperated by a period of 2-5 days between successing courses.
2. Results
Among 64 cases with coronary heart disease 58 cases suffered from angina pectoris. Improvement was experienced in 53 cases. The effective rate was 91.38%.
Therapeutic effect in ECG: Among 64 cases the ECG of 53 cases have changed. It was 37.26%.
The symptoms of stiffness of chest, palpitation and dyspnea were also improved.
