65 patients with headache, migraine and trigeminal neuralgia etc. were observed at random. According to the principle of "differentiating the symptoms and determining the treatment (acupuncture)", we selected the distal acupoints on the extremities along the channel for acupuncture and the traditional manipulation of roatating, vibrating or scraping the needle was adopted.
The patient were divided into three groups (marked or moderate, mild, poor or none) in line with the extent of PSC and the efficacy of pain relief by acupuncture of each group was evaluated as excellent, good, improved and poor, according to the interval and degree of improvement of diseases.
It turned out that among 21 patients with marked or moderate PSC, 32 patients with mild PSC and 12 patients with poor or non-PSC, the cases of excellent were 19 (90%), 21 (66%) and 1 (8%) respectively. It was evident that the effect of acupuncture analgesia was closely related to PSC. The differences among three groups was significant (p<0.05).
The above results present that selecting points according to the course of the channels and promoting PSC reaching the affected area are of great significance for further improvement the effect of acupuncture.
